ABOUT ORADEA

Oradea, previously called Oradea Mare is the capital city of Bihor County, situated on the west part of Romania, on the river Crisul Repede at only 13 km distance from the west border of Romania. Oradea has a central-European privileged position, since it is an important centre of communication being at relatively equal distance from the capitals: Bucharest (651 km), Vienne (518 km), Budapest (248 km) and Prague (676 km).

In the same time, it is the most important city from the  whole historical region Crisana. The city proper has a population of 206,614 as of the 2002[update] census.

The surroundings and the city itself offer us numerous choices of thrill and joy; the tourists can start their visits from the center of the city where every building has its own history. If you want to quit the city, we can recommend you to go to Baile Felix, Stâna de Vale or Băile Tinca.  Baile Felix and Baile 1 Mai are thermal spa resort situated at 8 and 4 km distance from the city. Beside the thermal waters which are famous and recognized at international level for its therapeutic effects, one can also see in this area a wonderful carstic formation, more precise a pit cave with a deepness of 86 meters, called in the area the “Crater from Beffia”. Moreover here one can see the thermal river Peţa with unique tropical vegetation in Europe.
